Street Closures on Saturday May 20, 2006

The National Kidney Foundation will be sponsoring its 27th Annual National Chili Cook-off on Saturday, May 20th from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. The event is a large street festival, featuring live performances by nationally known bands, a chili cook-off competition, as well as other food and craft vendors.
The festival will be held on the streets around the South Agriculture Building and a security fence line will be erected. Access to the building will be limited to the Wing 1, Independence Avenue entrance, or by way of the tunnel from the Whitten Building. Court 2 parking will also be impacted by this event.
Street closures will begin at 12:01 am on Saturday and will remain closed until 12:01 am Sunday morning. Employees who might be working late on Friday, May 19th, and are parked in Court 2, must remove their vehicle prior to midnight.

Employees working on Saturday will be allowed to park in Lot 9 of the Jamie L. Whitten Building, located on 12th Street, between Independence Avenue and Jefferson Drive. This is the lot used for the USDA Farmers Markets. Officers will be posted at the lot to allow access. You will be required to have your USDA identification badge to gain access to the lot.

If you have any questions regarding building access or parking on this day, please contact the Security Operations Branch on 720-6270.
