eAuthentication Description: The eAuthentication initiative aims to provide a single, centralized authentication service for web-based authentication throughout the Department. This service provides for the identification and validation of USDA's customers before they are allowed access into participating USDA web-based systems and will soon be expanded to include USDA employees. The eAuthentication service provides a single credential that a USDA web user can present to any participating USDA web site, reducing the burden on customers to register for and maintain separate online identities with every online system. The eAuthentication process also enables electronic signatures by providing the web-based system with a validated electronic identity.
