Initiative for Future Agriculture and Food Systems (IFAFS) (Section 7205)

The bill reauthorizes IFAFS for an indefinite period of time, establishing a permanent budget baseline for the program. The bill adds "rural economic and business and community development policy" to the list of critical issues to be addressed by the program. The bill funds IFAFS as follows: in FY03 $120 million in unused FY02 funds; beginning in FY04 with CCC funds in the following manner: FY04: $120 million; FY05: $140 million; FY06: $160 million; FY07 and thereafter: $200 million.
