Senior Scientific Research Service (Section 7219)

The bill adds a new section to subtitle B of Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 establishing a USDA Senior Scientist Research Service of not more than 100 members. To be eligible to be appointed to the Service by the Secretary, an individual must (1) have conducted outstanding research in the field of agriculture or forestry, (2) have a Ph.D., and meet OPM qualification standards for a GS-15 position.
