USDA-NASS Agricultural Statistics on CD-ROM

Starting with the 1994 publication, the annual Agricultural Statistics publications are available on a CD-ROM as well as on the Internet . The CD-ROM version includes enhanced searching capabilities that are not available on the Internet version. The CD-ROM may be obtained from the order desk by calling 1-800-999-6779.

Crops County Data Files

These files are designed for those needing numerous years or numerous crops, and for those unable to directly access the Agricultural Statistics Data Base.

Files are accessible from your browser or through anonymous FTP as explained below.

By Crop
1980-2000

Does not contain special practices. There is one zip file for each crop.

By Year (updated monthly)
1970-2004

One large file containing all available county data for all crops for each year. There is one zip file for each year.

Anonymous File Transfer Protocol - FTP

Using your favorite FTP software enter the following as needed:

HOST = www.nass.usda.gov
User ID = anonymous
Password = your e-mail address (optional)
Then change or enter the startup directory as: /pub/nass/county/

You can then select the directory and/or files as desired.

NASS Historical Data Products

NASS has discontinued offering data on diskettes.

Quick Stats: Agricultural Statistics Data Base

NASS publishes U.S., State, and County level agricultural statistics for many commodities and data series.  Quick Stats offers the ability to query by commodity, state(s) and year(s).  The query dataset can be downloaded for easy use in your data base or spreadsheet.

Published Estimates may now be obtained without charge from the Quick Stats Agricultural Statistics Data Base.
