John Hall
was selected as director of the National Finance Center, within the Office of
the Chief Financial Officer, based in New Orleans. He succeeded Conrad
Newsom, who served in that position from November 1992 until January 1996,
when he retired following 23 years of federal service.
From January 1996 until his recent selection Hall served as acting director of NFC. From 1983-96 he was the director of NFC's Financial Services Division. He served as chief of NFC's Systems Effectiveness Staff during 1982. From 1978-81 he was chief of NFC's Audit and Inquiry Branch. He served as deputy chief of NFC's Accounting Division from 1976-78, after having worked as chief of NFC's Directives Management Branch from 1969-76.
Hall began his career with USDA in 1960 as an auditor with the Office of Inspector General, based first in Atlanta from 1960-63 and subsequently in New Orleans from 1963-69. He is both a certified internal auditor and a certified government financial manager.
A native of Poplarville, Ms., Hall holds a B.S. degree in accounting from Mississippi State University. ¤
