George Cooper was selected as deputy administrator for partnerships with the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service. This is a new alignment reflecting restructuring as part of USDA's Oct. 1994 reorganization.

From August 1995 until his recent selection Cooper was acting deputy administrator for partnerships with CSREES. He worked as a national program coordinator for strategic planning for CSREES from 1994-95. From 1991-94 he was the principal animal nutritionist and coordinator of strategic planning with the [then] Cooperative State Research Service. He was a professor of animal science at Alabama A&M University from 1989-91, after having served as the executive assistant to the president at Alabama A&M University from 1988-89, and after having been vice president for academic affairs at that institution from 1985-88.

From 1983-85 Cooper served as dean of the School of Agriculture and Home Economics, as well as an associate professor of animal science, at Tuskegee University, after having been dean of the School of Applied Sciences at that institution from 1978-83. He worked as an animal nutritionist in Morrilton, Ark., at the Winrock International Livestock Research and Training Center, a public foundation, from 1976-78. From 1972-75 he was an assistant professor of animal nutrition, as well as coordinator of international programs, at Tuskegee University.

A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Cooper holds a B.S. degree in animal husbandry from Florida A&M University, an M.S. degree in animal science from Tuskegee University, and a Ph.D. degree in animal nutrition from the University of Illinois. ¤
