picture of Jim Parker

Jim Parker was selected as the deputy administrator for commodity and marketing programs with the Foreign Agricultural Service. He succeeded Phil Mackie, who served in that position from July 1989 until he retired in January 1996 following 31 years of service with USDA.

From January 1996 until his recent selection, Parker was acting deputy administrator for commodity and marketing programs for the agency. He served as the minister counselor for FAS in Japan, based in Tokyo, from 1990-95. From 1986-90 he was the agricultural counselor for the agency in Australia, based in Canberra. The October 1986 issue of the USDA News carried his complete biographical sketch, following his selection to that position. ¤
