Sally Rockey was selected as the deputy administrator for competitive research grants and awards management with the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service. She succeeded Colien Hefferan, who served in that position from December 1994 until August 1996, when she became CSREES's associate administrator.

From October 1995 until her recent selection Rockey was acting deputy administrator for competitive research grants and awards management with CSREES. From 1991-95 she served as director of the Plants Division as well as director of the Markets, Trade, and Rural Development Division--both a part of the National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program with the [then] Cooperative State Research Service. During that time she was also program director for three pest control research programs within that Competitive Grants Program.

Rockey joined CSRS's Competitive Research Grants Office in 1986, where she worked as a program director for three research programs in pest biology and ecosystems. She was an agricultural assistant with the Franklin County Cooperative Extension Service in Columbus, Ohio during 1982.

A native of Bainbridge, Ohio, Rockey holds a B.S. degree in zoology, an M.S. degree in entomology, and a Ph.D. degree in entomology, all from Ohio State University. ¤
