Jan Shadburn

Jan Shadburn was named as administrator of the Rural Housing Service. He succeeded Maureen Kennedy, who held that position from December 1994 to October 1996, and who is now the executive director of "Redefining Progress," a national nonprofit public policy organization, based in San Francisco, which promotes the more equitable and responsible redistribution of America's monetary, natural, and community resources in order to ensure a more sustainable world for future generations.

From October 1996 until his appointment, Shadburn served as acting administrator of RHS. He also served as the agency’s acting associate administrator since May 1995. From 1993-95 he was the Rural Development mission area’s State Director in Florida, based in Gainesville.

Shadburn spent 24 years, from 1969-93, in the banking industry as an executive officer with Citizen’s Bank of Marianna in Marianna, Fla. In that position he focused on commercial and real estate lending.

A native of Marianna, Shadburn holds a B.A. degree in finance and accounting from Florida State University. ¤
