R Ashworth

Russ Ashworth was selected as the director of the Office of Procurement and Property Management. This is a newly created position as part of a Departmental Administration reorganization in February 1996.

From February 1996 until his selection, Ashworth was acting director of OPPM. He served as director of USDA’s [then] Modernization of Administrative Processes Program Office from 1994-96, during which he led the Department’s reengineering of its purchase card and third-party draft processes.

From 1974-94 Ashworth worked in the Agricultural Research Service. This included such positions as director of its Contracting and Assistance Division, based in Greenbelt, Md., from 1982-94. He began his career with ARS in 1974 as a management intern.

A native of Attleboro, Mass., Ashworth holds a B.A. degree in English literature from Franklin College of Indiana in Franklin, Ind.
