Bill Hudnall was selected as the deputy administrator for marketing and regulatory programs-business services in the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. He succeeded Phyllis York, who served in that position, first in an acting capacity and then officially, from 1994 until she retired in September 1999, following 16 years of service with APHIS. From November 1996 until his selection, Hudnall served as assistant deputy administrator of the Office of Policy, Program Development, and Evaluation in the Food Safety and Inspection Service. He was deputy administrator for administrative management in FSIS from 1983-93 and from 1994-96. From 1993-94 he was FSIS associate administrator. Hudnall served as the personnel director for FSIS from 1978-83, after having served as the personnel director for APHIS from 1977-78. From 1971-77 he worked for FSIS as a personnel staffing specialist, a classification specialist, and then as a personnel management specialist. He worked as an employment representative for United Airlines from 1966-71, based in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Chicago, and finally in New York City. A native of Northumberland County, Va., Hudnall holds a B.A. degree in mathematics from the University of Virginia. |
