JANUARY SUPPLY AND DEMAND ESTIMATES REPORT TO BE ISSUED JAN. 10
     
     WASHINGTON, Jan. 8, 1997--The World Agricultural Supply and Demand
Estimates (WASDE) report is scheduled for release 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time on
Friday, Jan. 10, at the same time as the Crop Production Annual, Winter Wheat
and Rye Seedings, and Grain Stocks reports.  The monthly Crop Production 
report will be released one day earlier, on Jan. 9.

      For the rest of 1997, WASDE release dates will coincide with those of
the monthly Crop Production report:  Feb. 12, Mar. 11, Apr. 11, May 12, June
12, July 11, Aug. 12, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 10, and Dec. 11.

     The WASDE report is published by the World Agricultural Outlook Board of
USDA's Office of the Chief Economist.
