Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman Release No. 0034.97 Statement by Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman on the Death of Pamela Harriman, U.S. Ambassador to France February 5, 1997 Pamela Harriman was an indomitable supporter of American agriculture throughout her tenure as U.S. Ambassador in Paris. She was known as the U.S. farmer's best friend in France. She generously devoted her time, energy, and creativity to promoting U.S. agricultural interests. Whether at a trade show, a supermarket promotion for American foods, or a reception featuring U.S. cuisine, she was unwavering in her support for expanding exports of U.S. foods and other agricultural products to France. Ambassador Harriman was an ally and an advocate for America's farmers and a personal friend of mine. We will miss her grace, dedication and enthusiasm. # NOTE: USDA news releases and media advisories are available on the Internet. Access the USDA Home Page on the World Wide Web at http://www.usda.gov
