GLICKMAN NAMES MEMBERS TO NATIONAL HONEY NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE

     WASHINGTON, Feb. 24, 1997 -- Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman has
appointed 12 members to the National Honey Nominations Committee, which
nominates individuals for appointment to the Honey Board.

     Newly appointed members are:  Troy Howard Fore Jr., Jesup, Ga.; Elaine
Edith Miller, Duson, La.; Oren Dennie Best, Sunfield, Mich.; Wilbur Allen
Tuttle, Vandalia, Ohio; William Davis Lane, Memphis, Tenn.; and Leland Ray
Heine, Hustisford, Wis.

     Reappointed members are: Jerry Alan Brown, Haddam, Kan.; Glenn Ewing
Davis, Blue Springs, Mo.; Todd Duane Larson, Billings, Mont.; Joann Manes
Olstrom, Reedsport, Ore.; Glen Ray Wollman, Parker, S.D.; and Charles Dane
Hannum, Arlington, Va.

     All members will serve terms that begin immediately and end Dec. 31,
1999.

     The Honey Board administers an industry-funded, national research,
promotion and consumer information program to increase U.S. honey consumption
and exports.   USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service monitors the program.
