GLICKMAN NAMES MEMBERS AND ALTERNATES TO HONEY BOARD

     WASHINGTON, March 6, 1997 -- Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman today
announced the appointments of four members and four alternate members to serve
on the Honey Board. 

     The following appointees will serve a term beginning April 1, 1997 and
ending March 31, 2000.

     Producers representing Region 5:  Sharon A. Gibbons, Ballwin, Mo.,
member; and George C. Walker, III, Temple, Texas, alternate.

     Producers representing Region 7:  Stephen A. Conlon, New Martinsville,
W.Va., reappointed to the member position; and Linda K. Hackenburg, Lewisburg,
Pa., alternate.

     Appointees representing importers/exporters:  John D. McGinnis,
exporter, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., reappointed to a member position; and Robert
H. Coyle, importer, Clyde Hill, Wash., reappointed to an alternate position.
                                   
     Appointees representing cooperative members:  Albert B. Belliston,
Heyburn, Idaho, reappointed to the member position; and David B. Allibone,
Sioux City, Iowa, reappointed to the alternate position. 

     The Honey Board administers an industry-funded national research,
promotion, consumer information program to increase honey consumption in the
United States and abroad.  USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service monitors the
operations of the Honey Board.
