SECRETARY GLICKMAN CELEBRATES EARTH DAY IN BOSTON 

     WASHINGTON, April 18, 1997--Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman and
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will commemorate Earth Day -- Tuesday, April 22,
1997 -- on the steps of Faneuil Hall.  Glickman will present funds to Mayor
Menino for a Boston environmental group to continue their work to restore
the natural environment of the creek.  Glickman will also announce the
inclusion of the city of Boston in a federal environmental partnership.

     The program will begin at 9:30 am on the steps of Faneuil Hall across
from City Hall.
