GLICKMAN TO VISIT FOOD DEHYDRATION PLANT IN LUBBOCK, HOLD ROUNDTABLE ON      
  FOOD RECOVERY

     WASHINGTON, April 29,1997--Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will
visit Lubbock, TX on Wed., April 30 to tour the Breedlove Dehydration Center
at 9 a.m. and hold a roundtable discussion with area producers, local
restaurants and businesses involved in food recovery at 9:30 a.m.  There
will be a media availability immediately following the roundtable.

     The Breedlove Dehydration Center is located at 1818 N. Martin Luther
King Blvd, on the northeast corner of North Loop 289, Lubbock, TX.

     Glickman has made food recovery, or gleaning, his top personal
priority since becoming Secretary of Agriculture.  It is estimated that up
to 20 percent of all food annually produced in the U.S. for human
consumption goes to waste.
