AGRICULTURE SECRETARY DAN GLICKMAN TO VISIT IOWA STATE FAIR

Will Join Senator Tom Harkin for Agriculture Forum


     WASHINGTON, Aug. 8, 1997--Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman next
Wednesday will visit the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines to join Senator Tom
Harkin to discuss agricultural issues at a public forum.

     Glickman and Harkin will address a number of issues important to
agricultural producers, including the effects of the balanced budget bill
recently signed by President Clinton, the future of ethanol production, the
performance of the current farm bill and new issues on the horizon.  The forum
is open to the public.

     Following the forum, Glickman and Harkin will be available to the media.
