GLICKMAN TO ADDRESS KANSAS CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 

Will Discuss Need to Give President Clinton "Fast Track" Trade Negotiating
Authority

     WASHINGTON, Sept. 10, 1997--Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman Thursday
will speak to the Kansas City business community about why President Clinton
needs "fast track" authority to negotiate trade agreements.

     Glickman will discuss the importance to the states of Missouri and
Kansas of the President having this authority.  As a major hub of the U.S.
agri-business industry, an industry heavily dependent on international trade,
Kansas City has a great deal at stake as Congress begins action on President
Clinton's request for fast track authority.

     The speech is free and open to the public.
