Release No. 0337.97 Media Advisory Tom Amontree, 202-720-4623 tom.amontree@usda.gov USDA'S Jefferson Auditorium Available to View the White House Conference on Climate Change WASHINGTON, Oct. 2, 1997--The U.S. Department of Agriculture will host a satellite downlink site in Jefferson Auditorium of the "White House Conference on Climate Change -- The Challenge of Global Warming" on Mon., Oct. 6, 1997, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The conference will be up-linked from Georgetown University. USDA is one of 33 downlink site hosts around the country. The broad agenda for the conference is as follows: The morning session will include comments from President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore as well as panel discussions on the "Science of Global Warming and Climate Change," and "The Role of Technology in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions." The afternoon session will include an address by First Lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and panel discussion on the "Kyoto Conference and U.S. National Interests," and "Climate Change Policy and the U.S. Economy." There will be an hour and a half break for lunch between the morning and afternoon sessions. The Jefferson Auditorium is located in the USDA South Agriculture Building, 1400 Independence Ave, SW (between 12th and 14th Streets).
