Ford (202) 720-8998 aford@usda.gov Norma McDill (202) 720-8998 nmcdill@usda.gov GLICKMAN NAMES ALTERNATE TO AMERICAN EGG BOARD WASHINGTON, Oct. 10, 1997--Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman today named Peter Olson, Beverly Hills, Calif., as an alternate member of the American Egg Board. Olson will represent the western states--Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Olson serves the remainder of a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 1997. The board administers an egg research and promotion program authorized by the Egg Research and Consumer Information Act of 1974. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, a marketing and regulatory agency, reviews the program's budget, plans and projects to assure that it operates in the public interest. The program is funded entirely by a 10-cent per 30-dozen case assessment on eggs marketed by egg producers with flocks of over 75,000 hens. # NOTE: USDA news releases and media advisories are available on the Internet.
