USDA LAUNCHES ONE-STOP WEB ACCESS TO CROP REPORTS AND FORECASTS

WASHINGTON, Dec. 31, 1997--The Agriculture Department is launching a one-stop web site for easy electronic access to USDA’s latest crop reports and forecasts.

The site, conveniently located on USDA’s home page, features a month- by-month report calendar for all of 1998. Each month shows daily listings of scheduled reports and release times. Clicking on a report takes the user directly to the release in electronic form.

To reach the calendar from the USDA home page (http://www.usda.gov) click on “news and information” and “agency reports/schedules.” To access the calendar directly, bookmark http://www.usda.gov/news/calindex.htm.

The 1998 calendar lists more than 300 releases, including crop and livestock reports from the National Agricultural Statistics Service, outlook and situation reports from the Economic Research Service, world trade circulars from the Foreign Agricultural Service, and supply and demand and crop-weather reports from the World Agriculture Outlook Board.

Users can choose from a graphic calendar format or a text-only list format. Links are also provided at the site to each agency’s search engine should the user want to search a specific publication or report.
