AGRICULTURE SECRETARY GLICKMAN IS KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR THE AMERICAN
   FARM BUREAU FEDERATION'S 79th ANNUAL MEETING


     WASHINGTON,  Jan. 8, 1998--Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will participate in the
American Farm Bureau Federation's 79th annual meeting on January 12, 1998, in Charlotte, North
Carolina.

     At 10:00 a.m., Glickman will deliver the keynote address at the Charlotte Convention Center, Hall
C.  Glickman will speak about trade issues,  the Farm Bill, and economic safety nets for farmers.

     Earlier Monday, 7:30 a.m., Secretary Glickman will speak informally at the Kansas Farm Bureau's
breakfast.  The breakfast will be held at the Holiday Inn City Center, 230 N. College Street, Charlotte,
North Carolina.
