AGRICULTURE SECRETARY GLICKMAN TAKES ACTION ON SMALL FARMS COMMISSION REPORT Release No. 0024.98 Media Advisory Tom Amontree (202) 720-4623 tom.amontree@usda.gov AGRICULTURE SECRETARY GLICKMAN TAKES ACTION ON SMALL FARMS COMMISSION REPORT WASHINGTON, Jan. 21, 1998--Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will receive a report by the National Commission on Small Farms which examines a wide range of issues that impact small and beginning farmers. This 30-member commission was formed by Secretary Glickman in July of 1997, in response to recommendations made by USDA Civil Rights Action Team. Former Congressman Harold Volkmer chaired the commission's efforts to insure the survival of small farms. At 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, Secretary Glickman will hold a press conference to highlight the report that the National Commission on Small Farms will present. The press conference will be held at the USDA Administration Building, Room 107, which is located at 14th and Jefferson Drive, S.W., Washington, D.C.
