GLICKMAN ANNOUNCES EMERGENCY AID TO DISPOSE OF LIVESTOCK CARCASSES IN NORTH
CAROLINA 

     WASHINGTON, Sept. 24, 1999   USDA release 0376.99, announcing emergency
aid for the disposal of livestock carcasses in North Carolina, contained an
incorrect estimate of deceased animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Floyd. 
Estimates are being revised and updated daily.
  
     The third paragraph should read as follows:

     Estimates of drowned animals [in North Carolina] currently exceed 45,500
hogs, 2.2 million chickens and 283,000 turkeys.
