GLICKMAN TO ADDRESS THE TRANSATLANTIC CONSUMER DIALOGUE COMMITTEE

     WASHINGTON, DC February 9, 2000 - Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman
will deliver the opening address for the United States at the Transatlantic
Consumer Dialogue Committee (TACD) in Washington, DC on Thursday, February 10,
2000 at 8:30 a.m.  Major consumer organizations and senior officials involved
with consumer and trade policy from the United States and the European Union
will be attending the event.  EU Commissioner David Byrne will be delivering
the opening address for the European Union.
