GLICKMAN TO GIVE REMARKS AT FIRST MEETING OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON
AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY

     Washington, DC, March 24, 2000    Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman
will deliver opening remarks at the first meeting of the Advisory Committee on
Agricultural Biotechnology on March 29 at 9:30 a.m.  The meeting will be held
in the Atrium Ballroom of the International Trade Center at the Ronald Reagan
Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and
continues on March 30.       

     The advisory committee, which Gickman named earlier this year, will
advise the Secretary on policy related to the creation, application,
marketability, trade and use of agricultural biotechnology. 

     The meeting is open to the public and those interested may preregister
