GLICKMAN TO ADDRESS HAMMER AWARD PRESENTATION TO INSPECTOR
GENERAL

     WASHINGTON, March 24, 2000 -- Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will
address a ceremony on Monday, March 27, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. where the U.S.
Department of Agriculture's Office of Inspector General will be honored with
Vice-President Gore's Hammer Award.  Morley Winograd, Senior Advisor for the
Vice-President and Director of the National Partnership for Reinventing
Governement, will present the prestigious award to OIG for their outstanding
accomplishments during the law enforcement initiative "Operation Talon".
