GLICKMAN TO PARTICIPATE IN TREE PLANTING CEREMONY WITH MAYOR ANTHONY WILLIAMS

     Washington, April 17, 2000   Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will
participate in a tree planting event with District of Columbia Mayor Anthony
Williams on Tuesday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern High School,
Washington, DC.  At the event, Glickman will  announce that the U.S.
Department of Agriculture is forming two new partnerships with the District of
Columbia public school system and the U.S. Housing and Urban Development that
will promote greener spaces and urban stewardship.
