MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR SLAIN  FSIS COMPLIANCE OFFICERS AND CALIFORNIA STATE
INVESTIGATOR

     WASHINGTON, June 28, 2000   United States Department of Agriculture has
scheduled a memorial service for two Food Safety and Inspection Service
compliance officers, Jean Hillery and Thomas Quadros, and California State
investigator William Shaline, who were killed in the line of duty on June 21
in San Leandro, CA.  U.S. Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will attend the
memorial service.

                    WHO:      Members of the Community are invited to attend

                              Note: Those attending the ceremony will be required to pass
               through a security check. Members of the press are requested
