Ken Lescallett, Director, Protective Operations Division

Ken Lescellett was appointed in 1996 as the Security Chief for the USDA Headquarters. Over time his organization became the Protective Operations Division, which provides security, safety, environmental and medical services for the headquarters facilities. Before arriving at USDA, he served as the Chief of Security for the National Archives and Records Administration. At the Archives, Ken was instrumental in improving security at the Presidential Libraries and at the Archives Rotunda, which houses the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights and other vital historic documents.

Prior to Federal Civil Service, Ken retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Military Police Corps. He served in law enforcement, force protection and criminal investigative positions. Most notable were assignments as provost marshal, battalion commander, and at the Pentagon, as the Chief of the Army Physical Security Program.

Ken has a B.A. and M.Ed. and is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. He will be attending the Federal Executive Institute in July 2005.
