USDA Visitors Center - GOOD NUTRITION for Everybody

Did you know that USDA can help you improve your diet? The Government produced Dietary Guidelines for Americans to help them eat for good health.

USDA provides food assistance to those who need it. Working with other Federal agencies, states, and local organizations, USDA administers 15 different programs providing food, nutrition education, and health care support to nearly 1 in 6 Americans.

The Food Stamp Program is the cornerstone of USDA's food assistance programs, and is open to anyone who is eligible for food assistance. Other programs are targeted to specific groups of people. The WIC program, for example, serves pregnant women, new mothers, infants, and young children. Other programs serve school children, Native Americans, the elderly, disaster victims, and many more.

USDA nutrition research and education programs help consumers understand which nutrients are in the foods they eat, and how nutrients help us maintain good health and prevent diet-related health problems at different stages of life.

Have a healthful diet!
