Rural Development's Rural Utilities Service approved a $48,200,000 loan for
the Logan/Todd Regional Water Commission that will help 48,000 rural people
in Logan County, Todd County and Oak Grove, Kentucky. Administrator Legg
addressed a crowd of about 150 at the official presentation on Tuesday, May
28. Senator Mitch McConnell, Senator Jim Bunning, and Congressman Ed
Whitfield also spoke to the crowd. Rural Development Kentucky State
Director Kenneth Slone concluded by telling the crowd the funds would be
used for a state-of-the-art water treatment plant, 3 water storage tanks
totaling 3.5 million gallons, and 100 miles of pipes, among other things.
Administrator Legg stressed that partnership and cooperation had made the
project possible. "The Logan/Todd Regional Water Commission represents what
can be accomplished when government officials and local leaders come
together in cooperation, remain committed and work hard to make sure that
people in rural communities have enough safe, clean water," said Legg.
