RDUP Acceptance Procedures for
 

RUS accepts decals divided into four types: numbers, letters, warning, and symbols. All four decal types may have a non-reflective or reflective surface. The main purpose of the decals is to identify service area interface housings and buried plant pedestals.

In addition to the requirements shown under the general listing procedures, the following information is required in a request for RUS product acceptance of decals:

1. Data indicating compliance with the following:

(a) The decal film shall exhibit no loss of gloss, cracking, crazing, fading, lifting, blistering, or loss of adhesion and shall not be removed without destroying the film.
(b) The film shall be vinyl coated with pressure sensitive adhesive. Other materials may be permitted if they are acceptable to RUS.
(c) Screen and press printing shall be clear coated.
(d) Decals for cable warning-type applications shall be of a minimum size of 3 inches x 6 inches and have a minimum thickness of 0.002 inch.
(e) The decal colors shall have black lettering on an orange background for the following types of decals:

 

(1) Cable warning decals;
(2) Cable route decals; and
(3) Numerals decals; and
(4) Letters decals.
