RDUP Acceptance Procedures for Power Service Protectors and Secondary Power Arresters

In addition to the requirements shown under the general listing procedures, include the following information in a request for initial acceptance of power service protectors and secondary power arresters.


Product Description

The manufacturer should include detail regarding the material and galvanizing and identify it by ASTM specification numbers. The carbon grade for the steel should also be included.

Conformance to Standards

Manufacturers should include certification and data detailing the product’s successful suppression of the surge voltages presented in ANSI/IEEE C62.41-1991, "IEEE Recommended Practice for Surge Voltages in Low - Voltage AC Power Circuits." Such information should include actual photographs of applied surges and suppressed surges with peak clamping voltages and currents specified. Manufacturers should also include photocopies of the Underwriters Laboratories approvals of the products as "Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors" complying with UL Standard 1449.
