Hydraulic Analysis and Water Quality Behavior
for Water Distribution Systems

EPANET 2.0 for Windows 95/98/NT was updated January 3, 2001.

There are several companies and universities that provide good computer software for the design and analysis of water distribution systems. However, you may have overlooked a tool available for the cost of a download from E P A, EPANET. This software will model hydraulic and water quality behavior within a water distribution system. Starting with a geometric description of the pipe network, a set of initial conditions, estimates of water usage, and a set of rules for how the system is operated, EPANET predicts all flows, pressures, and water quality levels throughout the network during extended periods of operation. Information on the software is available at http://www.epa.gov/ORD/NRMRL/wswrd/epanet.html.
