Best Management Practices

The 2005 fungicide use guidelines represent the best collective judgment among Land Grant soybean plant pathologists as to how to most effectively deploy fungicides to manage soybean rust in the United States. Risk is best determined by reading the most recent state commentaries posted by state Extension Specialists on the USDA public website, www.sbrusa.net (use the magnifying glass in the toolbar to highlight your state on the map, or click the question mark and then your state). Once you are aware of the current risk level for rust in your area, scout your fields to determine growth stage, crop yield potential, and, if present, level of rust. Then determine your treatment options according to the various scenarios outlined in the following Guidelines.
