Dr. Sheryl Kunickis
Acting Director of the Office of the Chief Scientist

Dr. Sheryl Kunickis is currently the Acting Director, Office of the Chief Scientist. Dr. Kunickis also serves as the Director of the USDA Office of Pest Management Policy (OPMP). In August 2010, she received a USDA Honor Award for Management Excellence from Secretary Tom Vilsack. Previously, she served as the Director of the NRCS Remote Sensing Laboratories (RSLs), the NRCS National Agricultural Research Coordinator, and as a Soil Scientist responsible for New Technologies in the Soil Survey Division, NRCS. Prior to assuming leadership for the RSLs, she served a one-year detail at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) as the Deputy Assistant Director for Agriculture, Lands, and Wildlife. Her academic background is in Soil Science, with a Ph.D. from the North Carolina State University and M.S. and B.S. from Brigham Young University.
