Statement from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on Firefighter Token Adams

WASHINGTON, Sept. 9, 2013 - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack made the following statement today:

"On Friday we received the news that U.S. Forest Service Engine Captain Token Adams lost his life while scouting a fire on the Santa Fe National Forest in New Mexico. Token and his family are in our thoughts and prayers following this tragedy, as we honor his lifetime of service to our Nation. Additionally, I appreciate the efforts of the hundreds of dedicated individuals who navigated very challenging weather and terrain during the search for Token. Once again, we are reminded of the perils our firefighters face across the country as they protect lives and property from wildfire, and we are grateful for their service."
