What We Do

Safety, Sustainability and Emergency Operations Division (SSEOD)

The mission of SSEOD is to maintain and perform all occupational health and safety related functions in the National Capital Region (NCR), which includes indoor air assessments, hazardous material/waste storage, and workplace injuries/illnesses.  SSEOD provides contract oversight for Medical Units at the South Building and GWCC, which provides basic, extended, and additional care and minor medical assistance when necessary such as vaccinations, wellness physicals, help with acute visits & minor injuries, medication refills for primary care patients, telehealth consultations, and help with chronic disease management for primary care patients in the event of injuries, illnesses, or life-threatening emergencies to USDA employees and visitors. SSEOD also provides contract oversight of commercial vendors, small businesses and state licensing agencies who provide full-service cafeterias, diners, deli’s, snack shops and vending services in the GWCC, South and Whitten Buildings for USDA employees and visitors.
