ReConnect Loan and Grant Program


What is the Rural Development Broadband ReConnect Program?

The ReConnect Loan and Grant Program furnishes loans and grants to provide funds for the costs of construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in eligible rural areas. The application window for the fifth round of funding will open on March 22, 2024 and close on May 21, 2024, 11:59 a.m. Eastern. Follow one of the links below to learn more about the program.

 

100% Grant

For Alaska Native Corporations, Tribal Governments, Colonias, Persistent Poverty Areas and Socially Vulnerable Communities

Up to $350M Available

Potential awardees must meet a 100 Mbps symmetrical minimum service requirement in all proposed service areas. The maximum award amount is $35M, and no match is required. The applications are evaluated in a competitive process.
 

100% Loan

Up to $150M available

Potential awardees must meet a 100 Mbps symmetrical minimum service requirement in all proposed service areas. The maximum award amount is $50M, and the interest rate is set at a fixed 2%. The applications for this product are reviewed on a rolling basis and are not evaluated competitively.
 

Combo

Up to $300M available

Potential awardees must meet a 100 Mbps symmetrical minimum service requirement in all proposed service areas. The maximum award amount is $25M for the loan and $25M for the grant, and the interest rate is set at the US Treasury Rate. The applications are evaluated in a competitive process.
 

100% Grant

Up to $150M available

Potential awardees must meet a 100 Mbps symmetrical minimum service requirement in all proposed service areas. The maximum award amount is $35M, and a 25% match is required. The applications are evaluated in a competitive process.

100% Grant

Projects serving areas where 90% of households lack sufficient access to broadband

Up to $200M available

Potential awardees must meet a 100 Mbps symmetrical minimum service requirement in all proposed service areas. The maximum award amount is $25M, and no match is required. The applications are evaluated in a competitive process.

 

Program Awardees

In the first round of the ReConnect Program, USDA invested $695.12 million in projects that will create or improve high-speed internet access for rural customers across 35 states and territories. In the second round of the ReConnect Program, USDA invested $949.88 million to create or improve high-speed internet access for rural customers across 37 states and territories. In the third round of the ReConnect Program, USDA invested $1.66 billion to create or improve high-speed internet access for rural customers across 31 states and territories. In the fourth round of the ReConnect Program, USDA invested $1.82 billion to create or improve high-speed internet access for rural customers across 32 states and territories. Through Congressionally Directed Spending, USDA has invested $3.11 million to create or improve high-speed internet access for rural customers across four states. USDA has invested a total of $5.13 billion through the ReConnect Program.
