FY 2020 ReConnect Program Awardees

The Broadband ReConnect Program is a pilot program offering unique federal financing options in the form of grants, loans, and combinations thereof to create or improve rural e-Connectivity for rural customers across America.

 

As of now, USDA is investing in 6 projects through the second round of the ReConnect Program. The investments represent $74,798,791 in grant and loan funding for high-speed broadband infrastructure. The funded service areas include a total of 10,963 households.

USDA is reviewing applications and announcing approved projects on a rolling basis. Additional investments will be made in the coming weeks. Below are details about the projects announced to date.

    Location: Georgia

    Total square miles: 125.31

    Funded Service Area Households: 2,779

    Award amount: $12,575,317

    This Rural Development investment will be used to deploy a Fiber-to-the-Premises network in rural Georgia. The funded service areas include 2,779 households, one educational facility, and four essential community facilities spread over 125.31 square miles.

    Applicant: Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association

    Location: Mississippi

    Total square miles: 474.74

    Funded Service Area Households: 878

    Award amount: $16,091,872

    This Rural Development investment will be used to deploy a fiber-to-the-home network in rural Mississippi. The funded service areas include 878 households and nine essential community facilities spread over 474.74 square miles.

    Applicant: French Broad Electric Membership Corporation

    Location: North Carolina

    Total square miles: 133.03

    Funded Service Area Households: 1,740

    Award amount: $3,231,412

    This Rural Development investment will be used to construct a 100% fiber-to-the-home solution for Southwest Madison County in Western North Carolina. The funded service area includes 1,740 households and two essential community facilities spread over 133.03 square miles.

    Applicant: Easton Utilities Commission

    Location: Maryland

    Total square miles: 122.36

    Funded Service Area Households: 3,447

    Award amount: $13,108,229

    This Rural Development investment will be used to deliver Fiber-to-the-Premises to the proposed funded service territory in rural Maryland. The funded service areas include 3,447 households, eight educational facilities, one essential community facility, and one healthcare facility spread over 122.36 square miles.

    Applicant: Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc.

    Location: Oklahoma

    Total square miles: 826.04

    Funded Service Area Households: 1,832

    Award amount: $24,299,824

    This Rural Development investment will be used to deploy Fiber-to-the-Home broadband services in rural Oklahoma. The funded service areas include 1,832 households and two essential community facilities spread over 826.04 square miles.

    Applicant: Cimarron Telephone Company, L.L.C.

    Location: Oklahoma

    Total square miles: 125.24

    Award amount: $5,492,137

    This Rural Development investment will be used to deploy fiber-to-the-premises broadband service in rural Oklahoma. The funded service area includes 287 households spread over 125.24 square miles.
