Forecast of Business Opportunities

Interested in supplying goods and services to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)? With a goal of enhancing competition in contracting, USDA’s Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP) and Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) have developed a tool to assist industry and small disadvantaged entities in identifying potential opportunities for selling their products and services to USDA.

The Procurement Forecast tool is a list of anticipated USDA solicitations that small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, women-owned small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses may be able to perform under direct contracts with USDA, or through subcontracting opportunities.

USDA has eleven organizations that contribute solicitations and anticipated buying items to the USDA procurement forecast. The solicitations listed within the forecast are all over the simplified acquisition threshold, the dollar amount below which non-Federal entities can purchase property or services, as set by Federal Acquisition Regulation.

This initiative complies with Public Law 100-656, the Business Opportunity Development Reform Act of 1988, which amended the Small Business Act to place new emphasis on acquisition planning. Under the law, agencies must compile and make available projections of potential contracting opportunities for small businesses.
