ReConnect Program FY 2019 Funding Opportunity Announcement Awardees

The Broadband ReConnect Program is a pilot program offering unique federal financing options in the form of grants, loans, and combinations thereof to create or improve rural e-Connectivity for rural customers across America.

 

USDA invested in 79 projects in the first round of the ReConnect Program. The investments represent $698,036,513 in grant and loan funding for high-speed broadband infrastructure. The funded service areas include a total of 167,547 households.

    This ReConnect grant will deploy a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network to meet the needs of rural Tennessee residents. This Rural Development investment will provide Forked Deer Electric Cooperative, Inc. with the opportunity to use $2,856,167 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a broadband network capable of simultaneous transmission rates of 100 Mbps or greater. The funded service area includes 347 households and one critical community facility spread over approximately 284.77 square miles. The project will facilitate more access to services and information for local area residents and it will improve the overall quality of life.

The funded service areas include 3,911 households, 9 critical community facilities, 13 educational facilities, and one health care center spread over 120.65 square miles. The project will allow individuals living in the funded service area access improved services and opportunities.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Oklahoma Western Telephone Company with the opportunity to use $4,202,222 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to provide Fiber-to-the-Premises (FFTP) broadband service to customers in rural Oklahoma. The funded service areas include 321 households and 3 critical community facility spread over 115.91 square miles. This program includes 61 miles of aerial and buried fiber with GPON FTTP electronics. Receiving this grant funding will allow Oklahoma Western to service a much-needed part of the state with high speed broadband service.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Star Telephone Membership Corporation with the opportunity to use $23,476,478 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to build a gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) which will be 100% buried fiber-to-the-home network. The project will help facilitate new educational and economic opportunities for local residents and it will help improve the overall quality of life for people in the community.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Seneca Telecommunications, LLC with the opportunity to use $4,325,452 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) broadband network throughout the Seneca Nation’s Cattaraugus Territory. The funded service areas include 1,006 households, three educational facilities, one health care center, and one critical community facility spread over 28.44 square miles. The Seneca project will assist the youth with completing their required daily homework, advance the health care at the local medical facilities, provide businesses and farms with technology that will allow them to operate more efficiently, and assist with future economic development on the territory.

The funded service area includes 151 households spared over 10.77 square miles.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Eastern Nebraska Telephone Company with the opportunity to use ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) network to service rural areas of Pierce County, Wayne County and Madison County in Nebraska. The FTTP equipment will extend service to every household and business in the funded area, which includes 489 households spread over 212.12 square miles.

The funded service areas include 6,320 households, five educational facilities and one critical community facility spread over 212.59 square miles.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Monhegan Plantation with the opportunity to use $626,298 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) network to underserved households on Monhegan Island in the state of Maine. The project is expected to transmit over a Gigabyte (1000Mbps) of bulk Internet to the island. The funded service area includes 40 households, one educational facility, and one critical community facility spread over 0.84 square miles.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Town of Roque Bluffs with the opportunity to use $893,170 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) network that will provide broadband access at speeds ranging from 25 megabits per second (Mbps) to 1000 Mbps. The funded service areas include 166 households spread over 9.51 square miles.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Pine Telephone Company Inc. with the opportunity to use $5,625,187 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) network capable of offering broadband speeds of up to 1Gbps. The proposed project will provide broadband services within a portion of the Choctaw Nation in southeastern Oklahoma in McCurtain County. The funded service areas include 517 households and two critical community facilities spread over 15.41 square miles.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Ellijay Telephone Company with the opportunity to use $4,411,079 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to deploy a broadband network to service areas with up to 1 Gbps synchronous broadband service via a fiber-to-the-home deployment. The total deployment would be about 90 miles of new optical fiber transport facilities. The funded service areas include 2,159 households, one educational facility, and two critical community facilities spread over 7.71 square miles.

    This Rural Development investment will provide The Darien Telephone Company with the opportunity to use $1,086,649 received in ReConnect Program grant funding to expand high-speed internet service to underserved households and businesses in McIntosh County, using Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology. The project’s service areas include 257 households and one critical community facility spread over 6.93 square miles.

The funded areas include 109 households and one critical community facility spread over 845.25 square miles.

    This Rural Development investment will provide Pueblo of Acoma with the opportunity to use $942,955 in Reconnect Program grant funding to provide Fixed Wireless broadband service to its community, where 100 percent of premises are without sufficient access to broadband service. The ReConnect Program will support Pueblo of Acoma in providing robust broadband in the funded area, which will fuel long-term rural economic development and opportunities in this area. The funded service area includes 771 households, two educational facilities, two critical community facilities, and two healthcare centers spread over 14.35 square miles.

In addition, education, health care, energy efficiency, and public safety will improve with high-speed Internet access. Daktel Communications will offer broadband services at 1 gigabit per second symmetrical to locations that were previously unserved in the area.
