USDA Hosts Convening to Highlight Programs and Resources to Support Youth and Communities

At the event, the young people learned about USDA programs and resources to support beginning farmers and ranchers, professional development opportunities, and the history of agriculture in the United States.
“The future generation is critical for the United States, our food and farming systems and the future of American prosperity,” said Dr. Alveda King. “We work to ensure that our children and families have the chance to achieve the American dream.”
The event convened youth from across the country, those affiliated with the CCS Plan Legacy Institute, and 4-H student leaders from Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
“This was an incredible opportunity to meet with USDA leadership, hear the vision for family farms across the country, and plug in youth leaders to empower them to better serve their communities,” said Frank D. Murphy, founder of CCS Plan Legacy Institute, NFL alumnus, and author of “The Man Behind the Helmet.” “Thank you to Secretary Rollins, Dr. Alveda King, the USDA Center for Faith, and the White House Faith Office for making this event a tremendous success.”
The USDA Center for Faith is among 13 Centers for Faith across federal agencies. Each center forms partnerships between its agency and faith-based and neighborhood organizations to advance specific goals, and all of the centers are coordinated by the White House Faith Office. In addition to leading the way in agriculture, natural resources, and food, USDA is committed to strengthening communities and nourishing kids. The Center is here to help communities connect with USDA priorities and programs so we can positively impact lives together.
The White House Faith Office empowers faith-based entities, community organizations, and houses of worship to better serve families and communities.
