About United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Center of Excellence (CoE)

The USDA RPA CoE has delivered around $6 million in savings and reduced repetitive, administrative labor of more than 169,013 hours through a scaled, programmatic, department-wide approach to Robotic Process Automation.

The USDA RPA CoE has created three dashboards to show what stage in the USDA RPA CoE development process an automation is in and Return on Investment (ROI) at each stage.

During the intake stage, the USDA RPA CoE works with the business owner and subject matter expert (SME) to complete a value assessment to collect the data that feeds into the dashboards.

USDA RPA CoE collects the following data to feed into the dashboard:

  1. The Mission Area, agency and or staff office name
  2. The development model being used centralized, federated or federated-other
  3. The amount of time the individuals spend completing the process today
  4. The individuals average pay grade performing the job function
  5. How often the process is executed

USDA RPA calculates the ROI by the manual labor hours times the frequency times the cost of the labor (GSxx).
