OASCR Reorganization
USDA has announced a significant restructuring of its civil rights operations to strengthen fairness, transparency, and accountability across the Department. The initiative consolidates fourteen separate civil rights offices—each previously operating with its own procedures—into a single, unified office under the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights. By creating one intake process, one set of standards, and a single point of accountability, USDA is modernizing how civil rights complaints are handled and ensuring that all customers receive consistent and timely service.
This reorganization is designed to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce duplicative processes, and improve oversight of civil rights enforcement. It marks a major step forward in delivering a more accessible, streamlined, and responsive system for individuals who interact with USDA programs and services nationwide.
