Robotic Process Automation

Introduction

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a fast growing technology that utilize existing user application interfaces to automate human repetitive tasks, thus freeing employees to do more important work and engage with customers.

The RPA Program provides governance and policy to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Bot development to approve business process automation and streamline the development process for the Department through the RPA Service Management Organization (SMO).

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) created an enterprise RPA service for all of USDA to leverage. The RPA service is comprised of a RPA Digital Infrastructure Services Center (DISC) Cloud Hosting Environment, which is scalable and allows multiple customers in the environment as well as disaster recovery.

RPA aligns with one of the Secretary’s top priorities to ensure USDA programs are delivered efficiently, effectively, with integrity and focus on customer service as well as the USDA OCIO strategic goal 5 “Optimize Value of IT Services”.
